My fiancÚ and I live together with her daughter in Palm Springs, CA. Her ex-husband and father of the little girl lives in Los Angeles, CA. (about 120 miles away) They have joint custody but an agreement that he gets her every other weekend. My fiancÚ is unemployed and hasn't really been looking lately because we have a brand new bundle of joy. She thinks when her health insurance for her daughter runs out, she will not qualify for gov assistance this time around. Apparently, I am going to have to pay for her daughters insurance? Her ex says he has health insurance for her in his area and that we need to provide her with it here in Palm Springs. Does this sound right or should the ex's insurance cover his daughter wherever she happens to need medical assistance? Hopefully I don't sound like a jerk because I truly love her daughter to death, I just don't want to pay for something I feel he should have to handle. Thanks
