I'm a young single mother who is going to school, going to work, and taking care of a two year old daughter. My problem is that I feel like I know what it means to be a parent such as giving up on things such as going out and being with friends and even postponing plans of opening my own business. I am only 19 years old and her father is 25. He plays in a rock band and continually chooses the band over his daughter. I need to know when or if I should file for full custody so I do not have to worry about his immature decisions. He has mental problems such as attempting to commit suicide. I don't want my daughter around that. Someone please HELP me and tell me what to do, or atleast where to start.

YOu need the $$ and things dont get better. So you need to secure your childs future and your future. Because what happends when you are sick? you will need extra $$ to cover that expense. Yes! So dont' even doubt yourself. Do it. File for it. Go to your County's child support place, and you will have a court date by next month. Good luck.

That is the only solution. When you see that he is not interested in you and especially your daughter this is the only option. If now he is not a good father, then later he hasn't got a chance to change. You need to protect yourself somehow!
