My name is Courtney & my husband's name is John. Our kids got taken from us almost 3 years ago in Augusta, GA. My husband was not there at the time but I laid down with my kids to take a nap and I fell asleep before my 2 year old did & he trashed my room & went outside. The children were detained & we submitted to a drug test in which I passed mine & my husband failed his. He used to beat me up & he sold drugs. Plus we lived at a motel. The judge gave full custody of both of my boys to my mom in law & gave us no visitation & no case plan. And we were so devastated & not thinking at the time that we did not have a lwayer present with us in court. Now my mother in law lives in North Carolina with our children & the attorneys that we did talk to said that it is going to cost us $1400.00 for a change of venue & $750.00 once the case is transferred to North Carolina. I have completed parenting classes and my husband works. I am getting ready to go to college and am looking for work. We live in Richmond Virginia and do not get to see our children. I have contacted the US House of Representatives, the attorney general & anyone who will listen. The law acts like because my kids are with a family member that it is a good placement but it isn't. She is only in it for the money. My son has a 3rd degree burn on his shoulder because she wasn't watching him. We don't have the money for an attorney and legal aid will not take our case. Please help! What do I do? Is there anyone who will help us?
