Hello ladies. Just a couple quick questions. Should I list my baby's dad on the BC? As I understand it here in Michigan, once thie child is born to unmarried parents the father has to sign a form stating he the father in order for the mother to recieve child support. So I don't need him to be on the BC in order for his child to recieve support. My next question is...if I don't put him on the BC does he any rights to this baby?

He hasn't had any part of this pregnancy. We are not together and won't be either. But he is the father and should I allow him to have any say in how I raise this child.

You are a little confused...

In any state in the US if the parents are unmarried, the father needs to sign an affidavitt of paternity. You can put or not put his name on the certificate, but if he doesn't sign the AoP, then he technically isn't claiming the child...

You can get support with out that paper, but you need to go through the courts, they will order a paternity test... you will get the AoP, his name will be ordered onto the BC and once paternity is established he has just as many rights to your child as you do.
